32 Best 4th of July Clothing Sales You Need to Know About
While loading up on hotdogs and ooh-ing over fireworks are on our priority list this weekend, we’re also carving out time to shop the best 4th of July clothing sales. What better time to stock up on the pieces we’ve all been coveting for the past few months—especially ahead of peak vacation season?
We’re at the point where the heat has finally set in and, somehow, nothing I wore last summer excites me (or fits, TBH). I’m ready to refresh my closet with a breezy white dress, wide-leg jeans, and walking sandals comfortable enough for travel. There are also plenty of summer fashion trends I want to try, like fisherman sandals, butter yellow maxis, bubble dresses, raffia totes, oval sunglasses, and statement belts. Blessedly, there are tons of Independence Day clothing deals that’ll help me reach my goals.
As Glamour’s shopping editor, I’ve tracked down the best 4th of July clothing sales that are actually worth your time (and mine). You’ll find excellent markdowns on many big-name retailers and designers, including Madewell, Nordstrom, American Eagle, Old Navy, H&M, Abercrombie, Artizia, and much more. Let’s get into it.
Glamour’s 4th of July clothing sales wish list
Here’s a cheat sheet of the standout discounts our team is adding to our carts.
J.Crew’s end-of-season sale features a wave of workwear and summery staples like cute white maxis, one-piece swimsuits, strappy sandals, and trendy woven bags—with an extra 60% off sale styles with code JULY at checkout. Select summery pieces and new arrivals from the full-price section (like this sweet shirt dress) are also discounted this weekend, just FYI. I’m eyeing this embroidered linen mini dress–how sweet are those buttons, and this trendy gingham bathing suit that’s equal parts modest and sexy.
Middle-school me is still reeling that Abercrombie & Fitch is one of my top-three places to shop now that I’m in my 30s. But the brand is seriously killing it with its blend of pieces tailored enough to wear to work—Glamour-editor favorite straight-leg jeans that come in a ton of sizes, and sexier items like mini skorts. It’s also relatively affordable—even more so, with a newly expanded sale section.
I’m a long-time Madewell shopper, but admittedly, some of its clothing is pricier than my budget allows. Thankfully, its sales are generous, and its end-of-season sale boasts up to 70% off. Spotted: These comfy slides I own and love—and you can add an extra(!!) 30% off its sale price with code COOLDOWN.
American Eagle and its sister brand Aerie aren’t messing around for the holiday: Nearly everything at both sites is up to 70% off as we speak. Turn to AE for simple, preppy dresses and button-downs, then pop over to Aerie for all the discounted swimwear and underwear you’ll need this season and beyond.
Aritzia is where I always land when I’m looking for clothing that feels, well, cool—such as an oversized jean jacket, slingback heel, silk skirt, or bodysuit. Someone sound the siren: The brand is taking up to 50% off everything for its summer sale. Thank my lucky stars.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale—the retailer’s biggest event of the year—gets underway later this month (and you can preview those sales now). In the meantime, plenty of picks, including from designer labels like Veronica Beard and Tory Burch, are discounted and ready to punch up your summer wardrobe right this minute.
Although there’s usually always some kind of sale going on, Old Navy’s Fourth of July clothing deals are especially great. This time around, it’s offering goodies like $2 flip-flops and $10 swimwear for everyone, plus 60% off everything else (a 20% jump from last year’s July 4 sale). It also includes our commerce director’s favorite bathing suit of the season (below) and some excessively comfortable jumpsuits (this pretty little romper is currently only $13).
H&M’s already affordable prices are even lower this holiday weekend, with 20% off everything, including a slew of newly discounted pieces. Start with this Ganni-esque dress and the perfect white T-shirt, then branch out and see what gems you’ll uncover among the thousands and thousands of deals.
If you’re a fan of the brand, you know that Kate Spade sales are few and far between—so its end-of-season event is more than worth your time. Right now, its sale styles are an extra 50% off through July 7. Affordable designer bags, cute wallets, and warm-weather clothes are all up for grabs. How cute are these bow slides?
If any retailer knows how to do a sale-on-sale event, it’s Anthro. Tons of the site’s expertly curated selection of clothes and accessories are now on sale, with everything now an extra 50% off. Load up on printed dresses, coquette tops, wide-brimmed sun hats—and candles, skin care, and jewelry, while you’re at it. I’m eyeing these lacy ballet flats, a chic spin on the mesh trend and this picture perfect pink summer wedding guest dress that’s more than half off.
Take up to 60% off nearly everything from this Kate Middleton-adored brand, including its splashy maxi dresses, cute kids’ clothes, and incredible swim collection (Glamour’s commerce director is obsessed with its supportive one-pieces). Everything is very much giving coastal summer, making this a must-visit event if you have a beachy vacation coming up soon.
Everlane never misses with its high-quality basics made out of organic, zero-waste fabrics. I own so many long-lasting pieces from the brand—jeans, ballet flats, tank tops, wrap dresses. You can save up to 70% on its site as part of its summer sale, but I advise moving now because sizes run out quickly.
There’s no question that Adidas is having a major moment when it comes to celeb exposure. Dakota Johnson was just spotted in the Gazelles, which you can get for 25% off at Asos and Dua Lipa practically declared the Palermos the sneaker of summer. Currently, everything at Adidas.com is up to 60% off using code Celebrate including the slides you probably had in college, which are trendy again, and their signature three stripe leggings (plus tons of running shoes, of course).
New styles at Nike are up to 40% off including the delightfully retro men’s Air Max Pulses (how much do you love the neon bubble?) and the popular low dunks.
Shopbop’s sale section is seemingly never-ending, and thousands of newly discounted items (at up to 70% off, no less) have just been added. It features an enviable collection of special designer dresses, bikinis, T-shirts, handbags, and jewelry.
While Free People rarely holds official sales, its discounted offerings are wide-ranging, including cozy loungewear, dreamy dresses, slouchy jeans, and platform clogs. Plus, all orders ship free right now.
Our shopping team happily buys Tory Burch bags, accessories, and clothes at full price, so they need little convincing whenever discounts enter the chat. Note: The brand’s ongoing semiannual sale wraps up at midnight on July 3 (it won’t run on July 4), meaning you have only a few more days to score sale styles like these jelly sandals for an additional 25% off.
The brand behind some of the most popular tummy control swimwear, Summersalt has offered 30% off everything (which is rare), plus up to 60% off sale items using code SPF30. Glamour readers (and editors) can’t get enough of the wrap one-piece, which is marked down, and the sidestroke but I’m personally obsessed with the ruched swim skirt, which is $45 (down from $65). I wear it over all of my bathing suits, so I think it’s time to stock up on a few more colors.
Meanwhile, over at SSENSE there are deals on some major It girl designer finds including this cute Ami Paris sweater that’s over 60% off (majorly coveting this one), and the luxe Ganni buckle ballet flats that nearly every editor seems to own are 45% off.
Take up to 50% off sale styles, including cozy summer-weight cashmere in the prettiest colors, an office-perfect pleated satin midi dress, and this oh-so-trendy ribbed one-shoulder top. There’s also tons of great discounted finds over in the men’s department like this linen resort shirt, which is marked down to $40.
One of our favorite dress brands on the market right now, Brazilian label Farm Rio specializes in bold, color-heavy prints featuring flowers, fruits, and wildlife—basically everything that screams “summer.” While it’s not holding an official sale, we noticed that a ton of current-season styles just hit the clearance section for 30% off or more. Go wild.
If you haven’t checked out the site lately, now’s the time. It’s discounting everything by up to 50%, and with code EXTRA15, you’ll receive an extra 15% off four or more items, or 10% off three items. Everything includes this gorgeous bubble dress that’s just $36 with the markdown.
Hanna Andersson’s one of the most enduring baby clothes brands (not to mention Mommy-and-me outfits)—and who could resist, with all its cheery, vibrant patterns? Its Big Hanna sale lets you save up to 60% (plus an extra 20% off its clearance items with code BONUS20). I’ll be scooping up that freaking adorable flower swimwear set for my goddaughters, thanks.
With hundreds of thousands of Amazon Prime Day deals on the horizon—July 16 and 17, to be exact—the retailer is already slashing prices on summery must-haves.
If you thought Zappos sold ony shoes, you’re in for a (polite) awakening! The retailer has so much to shop—activewear, denim, sandals, sneakers, backpacks, dresses, purses—and ships impressively quickly, in my experience. Some of its top brands that you can find discounted at the moment: Coach, Hoka, Free People, Crocs, Under Armour, Dr. Martens, Sam Edelman, Levi’s, and The North Face.
Add some California cool to your summer wardrobe at Faherty’s Fourth of July sale, which is offering a rare 20% off warm-weather styles with code JULY20. Airy tees? Boho swimwear? Cute sun hats? Check, check, check. “Also, don’t sleep on the menswear, which is really where the brand shines,” says Glamour’s commerce director Brie Schwartz. “My husband is totally hooked on their super soft tops–though the brand is pricey so I wait for a sale to roll around.”
You know it’s officially sale season when Net-a-Porter joins the fray. The luxury retailer rarely offers markdowns, but much of its sale section is now an additional 15% off with the code EXTRA15. Need an all-season dress or a perfect denim skirt (ultra trendy this year) for your capsule wardrobe? You’ve come to the right place.
We’re cheating a little here by including a shoe store, but DSW’s semiannual sale goes too hard not to mention. Thousands of pairs have been newly marked down to up to 65% off sticker price. Don’t miss the chance to pick up our favorite white sneakers at a rare discount or comfortable heels featuring trendy rickrack trim.
Saks is holding a secret sale for the Fourth; click a tiny button on its site and you’ll be led to fashion paradise. Select high-end picks like designer sunglasses and summer dresses are up to 70% off, no code needed. Plus, the rest of the sale section is up to 60% off, you’ll score free shipping on orders over $300, and beauty is 15% off through Friday.
If you’re already a fan of the brand, you know that Athleta almost never offers discounts—so its semiannual sale going on right now, is nothing short of a very big deal. Pieces are up to 70% off for a limited time only, so join us in stocking up on joggers and tank tops that work just as well for yoga as they do for brunch.
Tons of romantic dresses (including the famous nap dress), tops, and adorable puff-sleeve swim suits are an extra 20% off right now for Hill House Home’s Fourth of July event. Cape Cod, here I come! If anyone wants to take me, that is. (Cough.) “I live in my nap dress all summer,” says Schwartz. It truly doesn’t get any more comfortable, especially on hot days when you don’t want anything clinging to your skin.”
Target’s annual Independence Day sale is extra impressive this year, bringing discounts across the entire store on summer staples. We’re especially into these beachy picks, including a one-piece swimsuit for less than $25 and a Vera Bradley carryall for half off. Swimming, anyone?
